Description

You are as successful in life as the person you become.
You may be asking yourself right now, why should I take my time to read this book? I think the late Jim Rohn, one of the most outstanding personal development teachers who taught Tony Robbins, gave one of the most fantastic motives: “If you want to have more, you have to become more. Success is not something you pursue. What you pursue will elude you; it can be like trying to chase butterflies. Success is something you attract by the person you become. For things to improve, you have to improve. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to change, you have to change. When you change, everything changes for you. Success is just a few simple disciplines practiced daily.” – Jim Rohn. This book aims to teach you the five most essential disciplines of life.

Introduction
Most of us want to become better people, but we must figure out how. “A New Self in 90 Days” was written to help those ready to take action a blueprint for achieving their goal and explains why it is so important. The late Jim Rohn, a leading teacher on Personal Development, said, “Success is something you attract by the person you become.” 1 Yes, the benefits of becoming a better person are undeniable.
The book covers five of the essential things in a person’s life:
• A Rel ationship with God—Spirit, Soul, and Body
• Building a Successful Marriage and Family
• Finances and Building Wealth
• Personal Growth—Becoming Your Best Self
• Human Relations—Principles for Building Good Relationships
Mastering the above topics will help you discover your life values, develop your life skills, and find your life purpose. The goal is to help you deal with life issues effectively, enhance your life, and provide you a fuller and more meaningful way of living—there is much to be learned over the next ninety days. Learning is one thing, but practicing what you learn is another and is just as important. When you practice what you are learning, it becomes beneficial.
To be more effective, you should read A New Self in 90 Days as a daily devotional, which requires reading only one essay each day; this usually will take from ten to fifteen minutes, sometimes less. A suitable time to read may be early in the morning. That will give you the day to contemplate and begin practicing, when applicable, the things you learn. If that does not work for you, you might use your break, lunch hour, or bedtime—whatever best suits your schedule.
Breaking old habits and forming new ones—a complete paradigm shift in the way you live—takes time, so do not be discouraged if there is little noticeable change in your life at first. After ninety days, you will notice some change, but more notable change could take up to a year or more, depending on your individual commitment. Your dedication to this paradigm shift in the way you live is a mission of fulfillment; I hope you will take it seriously.
It is essential that we intuitively do things that improve the way we live. Fear can keep us from taking advantage of opportunities as we get older. Life is short so why not follow your dreams and explore and discover exciting new things?
Not doing the things you want to do because of what others expect is one of the greatest regrets of those coming to the end of their lives. It is easy to travel down the wrong road in life simply by following what others are suggesting or doing. It is hard to go against the strong opinions of those closest to you. It requires courage to take charge of your life, but it is in your best interest.
If you are to take the right road in life, you must educate yourself. A New Self in 90 Days teaches you how to turn your life around and head in the right direction. Its purpose is to present a superior model for living, which includes a paradigm shift in how you view and live your life. The goal is to make you better through character building, a direct opposite of wishing your life was different and more manageable.
We live in a period when many are looking for quick and easy results. Personal growth, regardless of what type it may be, is neither quick nor easy. It takes arduous work and self-discipline over a long period. Achievement without effort is a myth.
Two Universal Principles behind Christian Personal Development
1. Loving God: Loving God is more than mouthing the words. It requires the presence of God’s glory in your life, which includes His agape love. It also requires consistency:
• Consistency in reading and studying the Bible
• Consistency in honoring God by the way you love and live
• Consistency in giving of your resources and time for the benefit of others
2. Loving Self: Loving self is the first requirement for loving others. God loved us enough to sacrifice His Son to rescue us from sin’s grip and pay the penalty of sin, which is eternal death. The Bible says, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). According to that verse, our souls—who we are—are more valuable than the entire world with all its gold, silver, money, real estate, and everything else. Each person’s life has a purpose and discovering that purpose is essential to becoming
