Type I diabetes can be a frustrating and exhausting diagnosis for families. Life suddenly changes. Learning how to regulate blood glucose levels by balancing insulin dosages with dietary plans can feel challenging and overwhelming. The entire family is affected. Education for parents and the newly diagnosed is essential to decrease anxiety and worry. Siblings need support too. They may feel afraid or sad watching insulin injections and glucose checks. They may feel anger or resentment. Answering their questions honestly and providing guidance on how they can help their brother or sister will ease concerns. Hopefully this book will open communication and empower siblings to remember that every day is a sweet gift.
