Description

Poetry from a Blackman’s prospective, is not seen as emotional, for emotions is feelings, where as it is the heart that controls the mind, for instance you could be sad and write about something that makes you feel glad or visa versa.
When I write I try to balance stable with stability, nothing is seen as controversial. Although surprising, the reader will certainly agree with the concept.
From the days of the Hieroglyphics in Egypt, Black people have got their point across with pronounce accuracy, so following in the footsteps of my Ancestors the path is made easier

I would be justified in saying the Creator is my inspiration, and by life I am inspired to write.
This book is dedicated to my father Joseph B Henry, who sadly past away 2001, and in remembering my roots, I give thanks to my Ancestors who wouldn’t take defeat. I am also thanking all the other people that have helped me develop my poetic skills, people that have read my work and have given me the encouragement, to go ahead and make another book.
While it has given me great pleasure in putting this book together, I must give homage to my Manager Donnamarie Sharpe Director of the Harmony family centre, for not allowing me to give up hope, and for Calvin king who assisted me and pointed me in the right direction, also for Howard Graham for the pictures, thank you.

Africa

A place to behold with the natural eye
Watching nature develop, in a country that size
As I cover my eyes from the morning sun
And see the foetus, of the land where civilization began.

Rapped in the glory of Pharaoh’s and kings
Found to be beyond, the world of architectural dreams
The people disguised, as an ocean of water
Subsequently designed from a GODLY order

How precious the minerals, of my people are
For it’s the land of my ancestors, the children of AMAN-RA
Comforted by the sound of the drums, in the back ground as they drop
Hearing the lion roar, and the elephants bellow when they trot

Let me take you on a journey, of a land so unique
AFRICA: the pinnacle of where my ancestors, put their feet
A joy to comprehend, that our history is so deep
As I say a prayer for my ancestors
Who wouldn’t take defeat

Egyptian Dynasty

Although in Africa, Egypt wasn’t the first kingdom
Yet it has the most abundant contribution, of dates in a lump sum
To explain the kings and queens of Egypt in Dynasty’s
Is simple
It is a line of hereditary rulers or leaders, of any powerful family

To get more acquainted with Dynasty’s
I’ll give you a quick analogy
Let us say that you were a king or queen
And you were the first to rule, and fulfil your dream

Then your sons and great ,great grand sons ruled
While for them, time wasn’t so cruel
So your family Dynasty lasted two hundred years,
From your first rule, to your great, great grand son fall

That explains the rule of a Dynasty
From them that ruled hereditary
Generations of a family

They were versed in the arts
Of astrology chemistry
Even human biology
Mathematics and the structure of science
And even building architectural designs

Black Icons

When a movie starts, and you see a black actor appear
Don’t you just jump for joy, and your mind punch the air
Thee intense joy, of seeing Samuel L Jackson perform
After so many years hasn’t he done well, didn’t he reform?

What about Witney Huston, in bodyguard
Wasn’t she a star?
Check out Forest Witticker and the emotions in his face
Shows he has complete control of his where a bouts and place

And when Eddie Murphy came on the scene
To us youths he was like a dream
As Denzel Washington finds his groove
If you study him carefully, you’ll find he has many moves

I admire the Black actor that doesn’t play a compromising roll
Just for a billfold
I believe that T.V shows the reality of rich Black men in America
But more often than not, it describes the depths of the other side

So lets rejoice in people like Blair Underwood, Angela Bassett,
Spike Lee, Morgan Freeman, Queen Latifah or Wesley Snips,
This for me is just a few of the Icons to mention
But the choice is yours choose one

We’ve come along way, from the lands of the Pharaoh’s
Kings and Queen’s
To slavery then to the best actors in the world
Hasn’t the Creator blessed us with a voice
So lets use it.
Blue Beautiful Sky

Beautiful day ahead
Light sunshine rays
Unique flower beds
Eye dazzling birds

Butter cups blooming
Erased is winter
A moment’s peace
Unity among animals
The storms over
Irreversible moments today
Full moon tonight
Ultimate transformation ahead
Lovely blue skies

Seventy degrees fathom hight
Kindling heat wave
Years hottest day
Ebony History

Extracted from the pages of a history book
While I tempt you my brother, to take a good look
Shackled in chains and a history denied
Being the first to exist, we still survived

Great empires were built, before the slave trade
On the walls, visions of the past engraved
Testimonies of Pharaoh’s hued out in stone
Africa; being the cradle of civilization, stood alone

Man to this day, can’t comprehend just how advanced they were
For the concept of a race of people, who’s knowledge was pure
Gave them an inferiority complex,
And that my friend, made them vex

Beyond human reasoning, they plundered and raped
And the Egyptians you see now, even they
