ALCHEMY
On the ocean of dreams, deep waters run
where soul, and spirit, bleed into one
cross perilous straits, through death-heads bay
past cape of black cats, amid frightened prey
drenched to the bone, in razor blade rain
by love once known, turned sad refrain …
a gathering of elements, conscious, in time
one part reason, third eye blind
word made flesh, travelling through space
speaking in tongues, soul, wearing face
keeping the faith, waiting to die
praying for proof, that proofs not a lie
carrying a cross, neath crucifix skies
for profitable prophets, selling stacked deck lies
spiritual sextants on the sea of holes
they navigate hearts, guide men’s souls
use treacherous alchemy to cleanse the soul
to purge the heart, mine lost gold
ration forgiveness for the human condition
to victims of love, consigned to perdition
sell peace in the valley, restoration
for spiritual renewal, transformation
on streams of consciousness that bleed into one
to the ocean of dreams, where God’s work is done.
