CATALOGUE OF THE 19TH CENTURY MEXICAN PAMPHLETS COLLECTION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS LIBRARY, URBANA-CHAMPAIGN Compiled by Sara de Mundo Lo Catalogue of the I9fch Gmtury Mextcan Pampmet5 Collcctton at the University of Illinois Utrary, Urbanadiampagn Sara tUj/QmAo JUbairvss 1991 The collection of primarily 19th century pamphlets of Mexican imprint was acquired by the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign in 1938 from the Mexican dealer and publisher Jos Porra. The collection was probably assembled by Xavier Gordoa whose ex-libris appears in most volumes. It contains 1476 pamphlets bound in 65 volumes covering the period and it is presently known as Coleccin de Impresos from 1813 to 1908, Within each volume each pamphlet has been given a consecutive number. . c The entries in the Catalog are arranged in a sequence consistent with the physical treatment of the pamphlets, i.e. by volume and pamphlet number. The Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (2nd edition) have been followed as strictly as permitted by the nature of the material. A seprate Geographic Index has been provided listing the pamphlets by place of publication. The compilation includes also an Author Index The collection features speeches, essays, lectures, documents, sermons, dissertations, etc. together with manuscripts, newspapers clippings, and political broadsides dealing with Mexican politics and government, geography, religin, biography, ...
